Story
Newcastle Building Society is the seventh largest building society in the UK, with 32 branches on high streets stretching across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
We underpinned the project by establishing a clearly defined brand character – the local hero – which showcased the society’s warm, helpful and engaging approach across all of its digital and analogue platforms. This concept informed every aspect of our work and helped us create a digitally focused identity that highlighted the society’s restless desire to forge positive connections across communities, helping people to realise their dreams.
Working alongside digital partner MMT, we created a new visual language that dovetailed seamlessly with the society’s existing logo and developed a sincere, friendly tone of voice and photographic approach, which welcomed, informed and assisted customers across the society’s digital platforms. The bold charm of the new typeface and precision of the new website graphics reflected a professional yet welcoming approach and created a distinctive, coherent identity to support the society’s ambitious plans.
The new digital identity was rolled out across all of the society’s marketing tools following the launch of the website in December 2021. Crucially, the overall website goal conversion rate more than doubled as a result of our work. Website user visits rose by 22% year-on-year (YOY) and the time users spent on the site increased by 5% YOY.
